We all know the typical New Year’s Eve routine: friends, family, hors d’oeuvres, champagne, small talk, CNN, more champagne, inappropriately timed firecrackers, more champagne, lampshades on heads, even more champagne, saying goodbye to friends... “When Harry Met Sally” tells the story of crude but practical Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and kind-hearted but naive Sally Albright (Meg Ryan), interrupted by occasional interviews of elderly couples. Those who are tired of this routine, or physically incapable of repeating it, just might prefer to stay home and simply watch a New Year’s-themed film. The following movies should appeal to a wide range of audiences in providing sober, seasonal fun. ‘When Harry Met Sally’ (1989).
