In the spirit of those annual holiday letters (love em or hate em) so popular at this time of year, heres a recap of Nashvilles 2011 art exhibitions, a quick look back at shows that stood out for one reason or another. This back-room exhibition was a sidebar to one of the new abstract paintings by his wife, Mary Long Postal, and included fanciful combinations of TVs, film clips, and amplifiers. A fine example of clean, image-driven design was to be seen in 10 Posters, a series of film posters by Lauren Rolwing at Belcourt Theatres gallery. The year got off to a frosty start, but it was worth venturing out to see Jonathan Postals inventive mixed-media sculptures at Tinney Contemporary in January. Later in the year, Postal returned to the gallery with photographs from his career as a chronicler of rock musicians.
